Operations Manager – Niagara Adapted Sport Hub

About Us

The Niagara Adapted Sport Hub (NASH) is a new initiative created as a lasting legacy of the Niagara 2022 Canada Games. NASH will serve as a regional connector, navigator, and innovator, ensuring children, youth, and families living with disabilities have access to inclusive, adapted sport and recreation opportunities across the Niagara region.

The Hub will collaborate with local municipalities, recreation facilities, schools, universities, colleges, community organizations, and funders to strengthen partnerships, and ensure inclusive access to sport and recreation. Supported by the Niagara Parasport Legacy Fund, NASH aims to maximize existing programs while creating bold new ones through knowledge sharing, education, evaluation, and collaboration.

Scope of Work

The Manager of Operations will be responsible for leading and advancing all aspects of the Niagara Adapted Sport Hub. This is a 1-year pilot position funded through the Niagara Parasport Legacy Fund, with potential for extension based on the strategic objectives of NASH and sustainable investment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Leadership
    • Help the NASH Board with partnership agreements, program development, fund development, and collaborative relationships for NASH.
    • Provide leadership and accountability to the Niagara Parasport Legacy Fund Board, Advisory Committee, and community partners.
    • Provide reports to measure progress and report effectively to funders and stakeholders.
    • Oversee budget, fund management, and partner agreements.
  1. Network Management and Relationship Building
    • Identify and strengthen relationships with local program partners, recreation facilities, schools, funders, and community champions.
    • Maintain partnerships with municipal governments, service providers, and educational institutions such as Brock University, Niagara College and Ridley College.
    • Convene and oversee cross-sector collaborations that advance adapted sport and recreation in Niagara.
    • Lead external relationship management for future NASH partner projects.
  1. Fund Development
    • Support the NASH board with the development of a  fundraising strategy supported by grants, sponsorship, and service revenue.
    • Build and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
    • Identify grant opportunities from government and philanthropic bodies.
    • Manage donor data and produce reports.
  1. Inclusive Expertise and Capacity Development
    1. Provide familiarity in disability-inclusive and accessible practices, drawing on Canadian and global trends.
    2. Engage individuals and families with lived experience to inform program design and decision-making.
    3. Support frameworks, systems, and tools to support inclusive practice across NASH partners.
    4. Deliver development and training sessions for local organizations.
    5. Establish performance indicators to track impact, insights, and outcomes.
  1. Family Navigation and Program Connector Services
    1. Act as a navigator for families seeking adapted and disability-inclusive sport and recreation programs.
    2. Support educators, health care providers, and recreation staff in sourcing and navigating program options.
    3. Facilitate knowledge translation and best practices across partner organizations.
    4. Help identify and fill gaps in Niagara programming through collaboration.
  1. Marketing and Communications
    1. Support NASH with the development and execution of an adapted resource guide and accessible online portal to promote Niagara programs and services.
    2. Create inclusive communications content across web, social media, newsletters, and promotional materials.
    3. Implement strategies to raise awareness and help to further grow participation in adapted sports across Niagara.
    4. Support disability-inclusive awareness campaigns and events in partnership with community organizations.

What You Bring

  • Proven familiarity in program development, strategic planning, fund development, and partnership management.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Practical knowledge combined with lived experience of disability-inclusive and accessibility principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Kinesiology, Recreation, Sport Management, Business, or a related field preferred.

Work Conditions

  • Hybrid role with a mix of remote work, in-office meetings, and on-site visits across Niagara partner facilities.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

Contract and Compensation

  • Type: 1-year contract (pilot), with possibility for extension based on funding and outcomes.
  • Start Date: March 1, 2026
  • Compensation: 65k to 80k commensurate with experience. Paid vacation and professional development support included.
